They defeated the Binghamton Broome Dusters via sweep in the Lockhart Cup Championship series to capture Johnstown's last professional hockey championship.
This incredible season, was the inspiration behind the cult hockey movie, Slapshot (starring Paul Newman), which was filmed one year later.
It catapulted the Hanson Brother player to FAME!"

"The championship celebration officially began at 10:42 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 1975.
The Johnstown Jets had just completed a four-game sweep of the Binghamton Broome Dusters in front of 4,088 fans at Cambria County War Memorial Arena.
Coach Dick Roberge’s team - led by the Carlson Brothers, Dave Hanson, Galen Head, Jerry Welsh, Vern Campigotto, Louie Levasseur and company - won the North American Hockey League playoff title.
“When we won the championship, it was incredible,” said Hanson, a physical defenseman nicknamed “Killer” and a future movie Hanson Brother.
“The city and the fans were really into it, which made the experience that much more exciting. The scene in ‘Slap Shot’ when the fans came piling onto the ice and the parade afterward certainly expresses the way it was and how we all felt."
