1953 Fred Sefton Award, Univ. of Akron, Ohio Best Passer trophy

Here is a very nice college football trophy, the Fred Sefton Award for 1953, honoring the Best Passer that year at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio.  Sefton was about to retire after a long career at Akron as an athlete and administrator.  1953 was the first year the award was offered.  Records indicate the award was won by Marion 'Madeo' Rossi, who went on to a long career as a successful high school coach.  The metal trophy is a little under 7" tall, and the base is 3.5" x 2.5".  The base is a faux marble, most likely a compressed plastic; paint on the football figure is wearing and is missing in a few places; the metal plate is worn and is pitting.  This needs and deserves a good, gentle cleaning.  Nice piece of football history.  Be the bidder!

PAPER ITEMS: Paper items such as  postcards, pamphlets, trade cards, sheet music, etc. normally are shipped in a rigid holder or with cardboard in a soft bubble envelope or in a cardboard envelope. I pack EVERYTHING carefully.
RETURNS: I will gladly accept a return if I describe an item inaccurately. You must notify me within 14 days of receipt of the item, and the ad description must have been markedly incorrect. I will reimburse the full purchase price and the return postage. I MUST receive the item back in the same condition I sent it out.
