Description
If you're looking for the most bad-a** Lightweight Race Bike available on the market today then look no further - presented to you is a 2001 Ducati 996-chassised 1123cc 2V Hybrid LW Race Bike, aka "The Beast". This bike was a labor of love and is absolutely amazing, having won multiple National & Regional Championships in CCS. If you've ever raced against this bike you know exactly what it's capable of, even with me as the pilot! And if you haven't, you can ask someone who's actually raced it besides myself (Greg Melka and Charlie Long). Greg Melka turned 1:55's and 1:56's at Daytona on this bike, which is a middleweight time, not a lightweight time. This bike also finished 3rd overall at the VIR round of the CCS Team Challenge in 2014 with Greg & Charlie onboard, only losing out to two 1000CC Superbikes, but ahead of all of the 600's (and several other 1000's) in the field. It's a fast bike and yes, they're definitely fast riders!!This bike is legal for all CCS Lightweight classes except for LW Supersport. The bike weighs approx. 345lbs ready to race a sprint race (with approx. 1.5 gal of fuel in the tank) and puts out right about 120hp with 85 ft/lbs of torque. You can see a brief write-up of the bike online at lwtracer.com/lwt-racing-bikes/ducati/behind-the-beast-ducati-depots-7481100-hybrid/
This bike has been meticulously maintained by Seb at Melillimoto Ducati, the extensive service history is available to the buyer upon request. No expense was ever spared in the building or maintenance of this bike – oil changes (Motul 300 full synthetic) every 3rd race weekend, valve adjust/new belts at least once if not twice a year (and always right before Daytona). The bike has never been wrecked or downed.
The bike comes with a number of spares, including an extra engine (also w/ a performance build, see details below), front and rear stands, extra Woodcraft Footpeg & Woodcraft Handlebar replacement parts, a full set of rear sprocket gearing, a complete set of extra fiberglass fairings, another extra set of fiberglass side fairings, and possibly some other spares once I go through the toolbox and the trailer and see what's there.
Regarding the engines, the "Screamer" engine puts out a few more HP than the "Big-Bang" engine (roughly the same torque though on the dyno), and the "Screamer" engine hits it's peak hp about 600-700 rpm higher than the "Big-Bang" engine. But the "Big-Bang" engine feels like it pulls a little harder coming out of corners. The engines alone literally cost well over k each to build when you factor in all the hard parts, extra services and base cost of the engines themselves.
The details of the major parts on the bike are below, although the list is likely missing a few items:
ENGINE #1 (the "Big-Bang" engine, currently installed in the bike)
- Hypermotard Cylinder Heads, bored, ported and polished w/ oversized valves by our "secret weapon guy" in Canada
- Ducati Performance Camshafts
- Pistal Hi-Comp Pistons (2mm over-bore)

- Bored-out (over-sized) Hypermotard 1100 throttle bodies
- Crank/Con-rods/Pistons/Flywheel professionally cut/polished/balanced by Ben Fox at Fox Performance
- Full 2-1 Exhaust w/ Titanium Muffler. The bike originally had a Ducati Performance Carbon Fiber muffler when we started the project, but the carbon muffler literally blew itself apart during a practice session at Daytona, which is why I moved over to the Ti muffler. No problems since then.

ELECTRONICS
– Microtec ECU w/ 2 maps installed. The main map (Map 1) is for Sunoco 110 octane leaded or 112 octane unleaded. I used the 110 octane leaded fuel as that is the most commonly available at the tracks I raced at (and a hell of a lot cheaper than the VP fuel). The secondary map (Map 2) is for VP MR12, which Greg said provided a few extra hp at Daytona so we went with that.
- Custom Hypermotard Wire Harness - all unnecessary wires have been removed for weight savings
- Dynojet Quickshifter
- Hypermotard 1100 Dash
- Shorai Lithium Battery
- Keyless ignition switch
