    Description

2021 Alderney New Gothic Crown Matte Portrait Proof Silver PCGS PR70. #162/625. Coin One only.
This is Coin One only. Certificate of Ownership / Statement of Authenticity included.
The Queen Victoria GOTHIC CROWN of 1847 is considered to be one of the most beautiful and sought after coins ever produced. Work first started on this design, by William Wyon, one year earlier in 1846, and there is an extremely rare pattern of that date.
Coin One of the New Gothic Crown designs struck by The Commonwealth Mint is paying homage to the original, delightful portrait of Queen Victoria, with the legend in Gothic script. Coin Two shows the reverse design using the Four Shields of the original coin. (not this coin)
Head of design at the mint, Jody Clark, has now produced a wonderful portrait of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II in the Gothic Style and this portrait, personally approved by Her Majesty, has been used for the obverse of this new masterpiece. The wording around Her Majesty's portrait has also been designed in the original Gothic script, and gives this New Gothic Crown a classic look that will enthrall collectors for generations to come.
This modern masterpiece will be treasured by collectors all around the world, and will be a fitting tribute to the past and present, linking William Wyon, perhaps the greatest Victorian coin designer with Jody Clark, the most widely collected UK coin designer of the 21st century.
