Features Precision and Simplicity. Use as remote Alarms.
Amateur Radio Extras, get your 80 Meter QRP NET on the air FAST and SIMPLE with these low-power transmitters.
These are crystal controlled clock oscillators in a DIP-14 size package. Sold in lots of (3).
The nominal 3.6864 MHz frequency falls nicely inside the NEW 100 kHz Extra Class segment of the 80 Meter HAM Band (3.6 - 3.7 MHz).
Note: This frequency is good and clear of the 3.579 MHz TV color burst frequency!
    Class Room Trainer
Add some excitement to those code practice sessions by actually going on the air while you teach real life NET operating skills to your class!
TRY THIS: Place a single receiver in the classroom, and let a handful of kids "call" and communicate with each other using only their CW skills. No talking allowed. Standby for break-ins. This can be an exciting learning tool.
If your receiver has a BFO or product detector, use these in CW (Carrier) Mode. If you are listening on an AM-only receiver, add a simple modulator, such as the linked example below, for MCW (Modulated CW). Choose different values of resistors / capacitors for different tones.
    FREQUENCY PRECISION
These transmitters are closely grouped by frequency. They are well within the restricted Extra portion of the band and all can be heard without retuning the receiver.
Based on statistical sample testing most units will fall in a narrow 100 Hz spread between 3,686,350 ±50 Hz. We do not do 100% frequency testing so some lots might be slightly wider.
(Note: That's not an adjustment screw in the corner, just part of the molding.)
    SIMPLE WIRING
For CW mode, just ground pin 7, connect a LPF and antenna to pin 8 and key +5 VDC to pin 14 and you're on the air. (Add a 0.001µF bypass directly across pins 7 & 14 for improved oscillator stability.) Doesn't get any simpler!
    RANGE
Distance, of course, varies. QRP'ers know that besides having a good receiver, it's the
    antenna, antenna, antenna
that's the secret. To many, that's the whole point (thrill, challenge, excitement) of QRP operation - constructing antennas to maximize performance at very low power. Imagine what it will do with your antenna! (The output is TTL so consider using a low-pass filter to suppress harmonics.)
Look here for a simple MCW Mode Schematic:

    WIRELESS ALARMS - Anywhere
Wire a door, gate, pressure sensor, pool level detector, thermostat, motion detector - anything that can switch 5 Volts. Use 4 AAA's and a diode to drop the voltage to about 5.5 V. For short distances, with a good receiver, an antenna is not needed.
CW (Carrier) Mode is the simplest method. A simple NE555 oscillator, such as the one shown in the MCW schematic link above, will modulate the transmitter if you prefer a tone. Select a different timing resistor (at pin 6) or capacitor (at pin 2) to produce different tones for easy identification of different monitoring / alarm stations. For a different twist, substitute a thermistor for the timing resistor for a simple temperature telemetry transmitter.
    Other possibilities:
    HF Fox Hunt Transmitter
    Beacon
    Telemetry
    Alarm Sending Units
Add a LPF and small amp for a serious QRP transmitter.
    160, 40, 20, 10 and 6 Meter versions available.
Check our other listings or e-Mail us.
Note: Configurations and applications vary and performance varies. Please review FCC Rules and Regulations Part 15 and Part 97 if you are not certain your particular use is in compliance. The suggestions above are not intended to promote illegal or improper use. It is the amateur's responsibility to ensure the completed transmitter is in compliance and that it's operation does not interfere with other equipment.
