Description
A super example of the talent the Van Briggle company of Colorado Springs, Colorado produced in 1907. This design #428, spade shaped leaves vase originally developed in 1905, is glazed in a nice rich brown blended color. A clear picture of the bottom markings with an additional one of documented similar markings definitely places this piece to mid 1907. I also believe that the underlined clay is the chocolate brown type used primarily from 1905 to 1907. I can find no documentation as to the designer of this shape number, I suspect Anne Van Briggle had a hand in the design, however. The vase measures 3 1/2” tall, 3 3/4” across the top and 4 1/2” base diameter. I estimate that the diameter of the widest area of this vase would be 6 3/4” across. In factory original condition, absolutely no chips, cracks, damage or repairs to this item. Glaze is very even with no staining or calcium deposits on the inside. A fantastic item for the astute van Briggle collector! Please view all pictures as they are considered part of the description. Please check my listings often as I will be posting numerous fine examples of glass, pottery and porcelain in the near future.
Thank you.
