This rare Italian condimento from Modena, Italy, is crafted by fermenting and acetifying the finest pure white and dark grape juices from local vineyards, then slowly aging it in wooden barrels for 100 years in the attics of the Leonardi Balsamic Estate. The elixir is transferred each year into barrels made from a different wood—chestnut, cherry, oak, mulberry, juniper and acacia—a classic technique that lends depth and complexity to the finished condiment. The century of fermentation yields an exceptionally creamy, velvety balsamic vinegar with a complex, tangy-sweet flavor. The balsamico is bottled in a faceted crystal bottle nestled in a gift box encrusted with sparkling Swarovski crystals in various sizes and cuts.
