    Description

In our ten years of business and over 50,000 items sold, we've seen some really special equipment come through the door.  However, this may be the most unique item we've ever had in the shop.  A National 600 transmitter is a pretty rare find in itself (less than 100 complete units were made), but what makes this item special is that it's from the ham shack of James Millen, W1HRX.  This is actually believe to be a prototype which Millen brought home for testing.
The transmitter's history is fairly well documented.  Pete Patton, W0EWQ, had been a long time collector of National receivers.  With the help of a mutual friend, he was able to visit Millen at his Massachusetts home in 1979.  It is at this meeting that W0EWQ acquired the transmitter.
The transmitter then bounced around several owners until it was acquired by W6KLG, who gave it a restoration in 2005.  The transmitter was featured in a 2007 issue of Electric Radio Magazine (issue #222).
The documentation included in this sale consists of
    original
letters between W0EWQ and Millen (several hand-signed by Millen), an original instruction manual, and print-outs of emails which outline the ownership between W0EWQ and W6KLG.  There are also schematics and other various documents.
The transmitter was used regularly shortly after it's restoration, but hasn't been used much (if at all) in the last decade.  The wiring harness was not installed when we acquired the transmitter, and we're not sure how to hook it back up.  Given all this, the transmitter has not been tested in our shop.
    Despite the restoration i
    t is being sold as-is
, as this is still a 1930's transmitter and some maintenance may be required.
You're more than welcome to inspect the transmitter before purchasing.  Local pick-up is also welcome and encouraged.  However, I am willing to ship the transmitter if need be.
