This corps was established in 1915, and lasted until the end of WWI (1918). The Canadian Overseas Railway Construction Corps was organised in the spring of 1915 as a result of a request by the British government for Canada to supply a railway construction unit for service in France. It was authorised by PC 482 of 5 March 1915. The corps was commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel C.W.P. Ramsay, a construction engineer on the Canadian Pacific Railway.
