    Description

Prussia is a duchy under the Kingdom of Poland. On April 8, 1525, the Treaty of Krakow was signed, according to which Prussia, formerly a church state, was transformed into a duchy (it became a secular state), subject to Poland and hereditary in the Albrecht family. Thereafter, the Reformation (Lutheranism) was easily introduced into Prussia. On April 10, Albrecht of Branderburg, the nephew of the Polish King Sigismund I, publicly took the oath of allegiance to the King of Poland as Duke of Prussia on the city square of Krakow.
