Description
Van Briggle Art Pottery Figurine - Native American Mother & Child - Late 20th CenturyWe are pleased to offer from our personal collection this vintage Van Briggle Art Pottery Figurine featuring a Native American Mother and her Child. The mother has one knee on the ground and the other knee supporting her baby who is inside a cradle board. The figurine has a predominately white colored glaze overall with just a hint of blue coloring along the mother's shawl. It has a satiny finish on the outside that is very smooth to the touch. The base is incised with "
Van Briggle / AA (inside a square) / Colo. Spgs. / LS / V
". We purchased this figurine at a Collector's Fair in 1991. The piece was not old then, but after 29 years, we can call it vintage. The "
LS
" initials belong to Loretta Short who was a pottery finisher at Van Briggle in the last quarter of the 20th Century.
Really an attractive figurine that is not commonly offered for sale. It would look great in a Arts & Crafts decor or Mid Century Modern setting.
A Great Addition to any American Art Pottery Collection!
