VAN BRIGGLE BUD VASE / CANDLE STICK, PERSIAN ROSE &BLUE MATTE GLAZE, VINTAGE
This Van Briggle bud vase/candle stick was purchased new by our grandfather in his home town of Colorado Springs, Colorado, so it has been in a one-owner family going back to the 1930’s. Condition of the vase is excellent, free of cracks, chips or marks. The design form includes three stylized lizards ascending the vase from the base, and meeting up with crocus blooms at the top – a handsome design starting in 1911. The Van Briggle incised logo is well-marked and located on the bottom side, visible in the photo. The bud vase is finished in the desirable Persian Rose (mulberry) and Blue dark matte glaze, and was featured in a non-smoking home. This vase has both great form and great color.
Van Briggle Pottery was established in 1901 in Colorado Springs, Colorado by Anne and Artus Van Briggle, hence the “double A” marking on the bottom of the piece. The Van Briggle Company is still operating in Colorado Springs today, even though ownership has traded hands.
