Van Briggle Matte Blue & Purple Ewer Pitcher 11.5” Tall Signed Loretta Short

Description

This Van Briggle ewer or pitcher has an overall medium blue matte glaze with a blush of mulberry purple coloring,especially on the handle and upper portions. It measures approximately 11 1/2 inches high and 6 inches across at its widest. It is clearly marked “Van Briggle Colo. Spgs.” with the artist’s etched initials “LS”, for Loretta Short, who created and finished pieces for Van Briggle between 1988 and 1997.
The ewer is in great condition with no chips, cracks, missing paint, or repairs. The glaze is smooth and creamy. As noted in the photos, there are a couple of shallow dimples on the rim, one at the tip and one at the side. This is not damage, it is the way the pottery was made.
