    Description

For auction is a lovely piece of art pottery made by The Van Briggle Pottery Company of Colorado Springs, Colorado. The item is a vase or planter. The vase is a nice size as it stands 4 3/8" tall and is 5 5/8" in diameter at the widest bulbous bottom. The vase is made in one of Van Briggle's most highly collected glazes known as "Mountain Craig Brown".
The vase has a unique volcano shape. It has a bulbous bottom and it tapers in as it rises to the top opening very similar in appearance to a volcano. There are embossed vertical fingers that rise from the underside bottom
    edge
with every other finger touching the top border. There are 2 levels of the fingers, tall and medium tall. These fingers resemble a Cactus in my eyes and I call this vase as such. The matte brown is
    predominately
the background glaze with the fingers having the green over spray.
The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The inside of the vase shows minimal wear and it appears that this vase was taken care of during its use. This piece is signed on the bottom with the impressed Van Briggle Double A Logo mark along with "Van Briggle" in large freehand print letters with "U.S.A." underneath it. This Mountain Craig Brown glaze was lost in the flood of 1935 and no more of Van Briggle pieces were made in that glaze
after that flood. Since this has the U.S.A. mark we can date this vase to have been made in the 1920's.
This is a nice not so commonly found form and glaze in excellent condition. I believe this to be shape number "747" in the Van Briggle catalog. I have attached a picture from the Van Briggle book showing this form. The book has only  a few references to this shape and it appears to be the same. Those of you who collect Arts and Crafts design pottery will surely welcome this addition into your collection. I am sure it will look just great on that Stickley, Mission, Arts and Crafts Style Bookcase. It will also look great it that Southwestern theme or
    décor

I want to apologize for slowing down my shipping time. Ebay forced me into managed payments in July of this year 2020.
I used to get my money in 24 hours. I now get it in 3-4 business days. I was told it would be better for me and my fees would go down. This has been the opposite as my fees have actually increased and now it takes longer for me to receive the payments
. Because of this slowdown I will not ship until the payment has made it into my bank account. No store lets you out of the building with the
    merchandise
    unless it is paid for.
    They are also n
ow charging all sellers a commission of 11.5% on sales tax. Pay Pal used to charge 2.9% payment processing fee but Ebay has changed this to 11.5%. This is an increase of 8.6% on the sales tax portion. They are now making a profit on the sales tax and treating it as a sale which in my eyes is wrong!! They did the same on the shipping charges several years ago. They use to not charge anything and now they are charging 11.5% commission on shipping as well. This has raised the cost to ship items to you, the buyer and this is factored into my shipping charges.
If you feel what Ebay is doing is wrong or you don't agree them please contact Ebay and voice your opinion. Maybe if enough of you do this, they will change their policy.
