    Description

Here is a really nice and early Van Briggle Pottery corset 3 handled vase in red clay with a blue green matte with purple blush bi-color glaze.  Red clay was only used in 1905, 06, and 07 and makes for beautiful highlighting where the glaze thins over the handles.   It is number 245 in the shape book, designed in 1904 by Artus Van Briggle, and called "Daisy; three handles".  It is in good condition with only a small bruise and short tight inner line at the rim that is not noticeable, and no chips, firing flaws, or repairs.   It measures 9 3/8 inches tall and 3 5/8 inches in diameter at the base.   Marks include the firm's double AA box mark, shape number 245, and the date, 1905.  A great glaze on an early, dated vase from the famous Colorado Springs art pottery.  If you have any questions please click on our username or visit our store page and feel free to email through the gallery or call Jim Messineo at JMW Gallery.
