Description

The original design for this transmitter was published in the 1940's. It was published in the
American Radio Relay League's (ARRL) Handbooks and "How to become a Radio Amateur "
booklets. The ARRL has given us permission to publish their article and include it in our kits
along with our detailed manual (almost 20 pages).
Our kits have been manufactured since 2006.  The original articles did not include any
parts for construction. We have put together a combination of parts to replicate the old while
upgrading some electronics. Some of our photos may show earlier versions. We may upgrade
or change the kit without notification.
The original wood slat board construction was based on wood salvaged from the 'orange
crates' of the  1940's. Our wood is prepared by our Amish neighbors here in Ohio, USA. It
is oak cut and machined to original dimensions. The 'chassis' is held together with brass plated
flat head wood screws. (and glue?). Chassis may be stained or painted at the builder's discretion.
'Sucker sticks' are still used to hold hand-made coils (wire supplied).Coils are wound by
the builder - around a fixture of 8 penny nails (supplied).
A new vacuum
tube (imported) is included.
A newly manufactured variable capacitor is included. Our
instructions include a paper on working with high voltage.
An FCC license, power supply,
crystal
, and suitable antenna would be required to put this
kit on the air. The transmitter is designed for use on the CW portion of 80 and/or 40 meter amateur
HF radio frequencies. To change bands, a couple coils have to be exchanged (resoldered)..
